The Old Versus The New

The world of marketing and selling has changed drastically in recent times and the disparity between the old and the new is looming larger each and every passing moment. Digital marketing and digital selling have taken over from the traditional marketing and selling methods of doing business.
 It’s a wonder how times have changed and business trends metamorphose from one stage to another in these highly technological times we live in that,  if you do not consciously move with the trend as a business person, you can find yourself at the lowest rung on the ladder of success.
At the beginning of the millennium, we could still do business the analogue way. Physical marketing via surveys using questionnaires was the normal thing. As a marketer, you had to reach your audience, consumers or customers physically on the field. Also, as a sales man or woman, selling was compulsorily done by calling on prospects and customers to advertise your products and services, and  eventually close a sale.


Fast forward to 2020.....


Now, in this dispensation, marketing and selling is done digitally. Online marketing via online surveys and engaging your audience or consumers to write reviews on your products and services is what is trending right now. Digital marketing methods such as SEO, content marketing, social media marketing, e-mail marketing, pay per click advertising, are various ways online businesses are promoting themselves to increase the demand and supply of their consumers. As one someone once said, ‘business is all about  making sales and selling what consumers want, it is only circumspect that everyone in business upgrade themselves and their businesses to line up with the changing times.
If  we don’t make the necessary changes to grow in the trending ways that business is being done right now, most people could find themselves really obsolete and out of business!

Technology has advanced even in the face of this global pandemic of the corona virus. Everyone is talking about AI- Artificial Intelligence and how this can be introduced in every day living especially in doing business, it is only mandatory that we all upgrade mentally and cognitively to be able to understand and keep up with the new normal that has suddenly been thrust upon us.
